jerrydf Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 Some Other Stomp: A traditional tune (A minor Polkas) on a harder rock backing. Leads - fiddle, harmonica; backing - electric guitar, bass, drums, organ. jdf 1
PhonoBrainer Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 That's a fun mix and you don't hear hard rock hoedowns that much. Plenty creative. Around 1:48 in the background there's like a harmonica lead, or a crowd, or a cat wailing, or? Pretty low in the mix but I think it monkeys up things. I guess its a feature of the chorus? It kind of comes and goes. Great ending! A very creative piece. Maybe play with a little more reverb on violin, so it matches the rvb of the drums and guitar? I dunno. Still pretty cool. cheers, -Tom
jerrydf Posted September 30, 2019 Author Posted September 30, 2019 Thanks Tom. That's the harmonica (first took the lead earlier in the set). I tried more reverb on the fiddle, but (I think) the drier setting brings it forward in the mix. Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it. Regards Jerry
DeeringAmps Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Hey Jerry, Nicely done. It got me ready for a busy day and I thank you for that. Keep it up! Tom
bjornpdx Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Jerry Toe tapper for sure. Really nice arrangement of traditional and rock. I wouldn't have guessed there's a polka in there.
jerrydf Posted October 3, 2019 Author Posted October 3, 2019 Thanks for the feedback everyone, much appreciated. As you hear, it wasn't a polka by the time I'd finished with it. I takes a lot of hard work to get it to sound as rough as that. jdf
thegaltieribrothers Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Hi Jerry, Yee-haw! that was one heck of a hoe-down polka - really well played. Thanks for sharing. Good Job! regards paul
Old Joad Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Great stomp, The Charlie Daniels band better look out...?
jerrydf Posted October 7, 2019 Author Posted October 7, 2019 Thanks Old Joad. Charlie Daniels was the "Devil went down to Georgia", IIRC? Cheers Jerry
jerrydf Posted October 7, 2019 Author Posted October 7, 2019 (edited) Also, thanks Paul. The Galtieri Brothers have good stiuff up here on the forum, too. jdf Edited October 7, 2019 by jerrydf
