Video capture bug with VHS

Hi, I've recently bought a new video capture interface (entry level) because I replaced my Sata HD to a SSD drive, and unfortunately I forgot to save drivers nor I have the disk of my early interface (EasyCap type).

However the new interface is not able to digitize VHS tapes correctly. Here's an example:

However if I capture from a DVD player the video stability improves, but it will lose resolution, like on the following video:

Has anyone seen something like this?

DVD will be inherently more stable than VHS so any capture software trying to adjust for variations  will likely struggle. i'd suspect more pro level / hardware capture tech could offer some benefits as you really want the capture to be as good as possible before making adjustments. as a note: i haven't tried any VHS capture in about 7-8 years and using my old Happauge card with a consumer deck & videos from late 1980's and early 1990's results were mediocre at best.

Glenn Stanton, thanks for the reply, I'll try to download EasyCap drivers.

By the way I had a PCI card that did a good job in 2000's, and this EasyCap was also good for what it had promised.
Also I've seen some interfaces starting from U$200,00 but it's a bit pricey at the moment! 

I also bought a new EasyCap last month but VHS conversion was more buggy than this new one (MyGica iGrabber).

Have you considered a hardware VHS->DVD recorder as an intermediate step? I am not sure how easy those are to find anymore but left one sitting on a shelf just in case I would ever need it. Sheesh... I just looked them up and they are 3x the price they once were! That is nuts.

yeah, my $50 VHS player would cost $350 now. so i'm keeping it ? guessing that since they only need to make like 100 of these per year, the scarcity has driven up the prices... ?

From what you posted I'm thinking the source was the problem, when the recording from the VHS machine it looks like it had not been adjusted for picture azimuth .. if you still have the original tapes, my feeling is to use a professional company for the transfer ... Long ago I made a few bob doing just that but the kit is not  really available now.

Hi, Supa Reels, thanks for the reply! I guess both tapes and videocassette player are good, as I can connect them to a television and the videos are OK!
I believe it could be something related to Windows or my notebook.

By the way I searched the expression "picture azimuth" and found some imagens of an artist which are close to what I got on my second EasyCap - a very buggy image! See an example:

So as MyGica iGrabber is giving me a less buggy image I'll see if I can find a solution!
However I'll try some drivers on the site Glenn Stanton sugested, for my first EasyCap!
