stevenebowen Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 I have a friend that was showing me how to do vocal configuration and we discovered I do not have the pc2a that comes with cakewalk. How can I get that back or can I download a plugin that would do the same thing the default plugins do?

1 TracingArcs Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Here's a link to free LA2A type comp. I use the Analog Obession ,TLS, and Variety of Sound. All work well in CWB https://allthingsgear.com/best-free-la2a-plugins/
1 Jean-Philippe ROGER Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 The PC2A is in Cakewalk since this release
1 mark skinner Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 (edited) Seems I can remember it being missing on one of my earlier versions. I think a full install brought it back on my main daw pc. It's showing up here on my laptop as well. ms Edited December 4, 2023 by mark skinner

1 Glenn Stanton Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 yeah, i downloaded the DLL (from a link in the post i shared) and it's 10K smaller than the one labelled ".old" and it seems to be working ok (although the CA-2A has the option to be side chained whereas the PC2A does not). so i must have disabled it when it was causing problems.
1 John Vere Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 @stevenebowen You seem to be missing half of the PC modules. Long shot, you should not be using Basic Workspace. Change it to advanced. Owners of Splat will have the CA 2A module but only the PC2A comes with CbB. I asked a long time ago and was told it is identical to the CA 2A but doesn’t support side chaining. I have the CA2A on a zillion projects. I have tested the PC2A and never found anything different.
1 Andres Medina Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 CA 2A extremely unusable (crashes badly), at least in my system. PC2A very good, but as said, no sidechaining.
1 John Vere Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Yes very odd. I think it was @msmcleodthat told me they are identical other than the side chain
0 Glenn Stanton Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 what module is the PC2A? i think i have all the PC modules and do not see any PC2, only PC4 modules. did you mean the CA-2A compressor? note that not all PC modules came with SONAR and had to be purchased separately. however, there are plenty of free and paid versions of an LA-2 compressor including UAD, Waves, Slate, and free products.

I think it was @msmcleodthat told me they are identical other than the side chain check the size of the old one i had remm'd out and the newer one and the PC2A are about 10K different... whereas the CA-2A is significantly larger -- ~1.2mb ... but maybe because it's a VST w/ registry entries for use as a PC module as well as a VST plugin... 0 Glenn Stanton Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 the CA-2A is. and you can find your product code in your product list.

0 Andres Medina Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Up and running with both versions- Thanks all! I thought CA20 was lost for ever for me -
0 stevenebowen Posted December 4, 2023 Author Posted December 4, 2023 My bandlab assistant app wouldn't open and I guess I was running an old version of cakewalk. I logged on to the website and downloaded cakewalk and it appears I have the pca2 now. IF im missing any modules I wouldn't know. I didn't uninstall cakewalk or nothing I just downloaded the new one. I did follow the link and find the dll file from glenns post. So if you try it and it doesnt work follow that link and get the dll. Thanks everyone. 2
