The rewards cannot be used with the active front page deals but instead, have to be used for the products in 'Shop' (should be available in the navigation). 

There, items should show a normal price and a base price. If an item has a price of 100 USD but its base price is 30 USD, you would need 70 points to get the deal. They might also have sales for items in the shop.

Don't dismiss APD's shop either. It sometimes has really good deals or special finds as long as you've got enough points to make use of them.
