Is there an "auto-start" recording function on Cakewalk?

Hi there

(I tried to get an answer from the online documentation but kept getting 404 Error pages, which I presume is because of the changes being made?!)

Anyways...

On my mixer I can set it to trigger the record function at whatever level of signal value in Db I choose, so I have it right down at -47Db so it kicks in even on quiet piano pieces.

Is there a way in Cakewalk to set up the recording function to do something similar please??

No - I do not believe this is possible and have seen other posts in here about this. Happy to be proven wrong by someone, though!

Not directly in the DAW, however... if your mixer has MIDI out or control voltage out, you could see if it can be programmed to send a signal to the DAW similar to a footswitch.

I've used a Normally Open footswitch to 'punch in' record, but it has been many years ago.

Yep, cheap USB programable foot switches are easy to set up with the transport controls. 
I have a collection of them.
