bats brew
https://soundcloud.com/bats-brew/lost-dream-mix2 this is a mastered file. it's not very hot, comes in about DR10, -11 LUFS. first one i've mastered out of the 10 songs total on the upcoming album. i'm toying with some plugs i don't normally use, figured, why not. maybe it's hard to judge 'mixes' with 'mastered' files, i dont know, ideas? i can always post JUST the mix. this is my 'floyd' influence showing. Grem
Definitely hear the Floyd in there. I was trying to think of a way to describe the feeling I was getting from this. Space-trippy was what I came up with!! Really good organ sound. Started listening to it on the speakers here at work, but after listening twice, I wasn't sure t was translating right. So I took out my Bose headphones and that made a difference! I could see the sound stage and hear everything much more clearly and balanced. Good song I like it. Nice mix and good job on the master. Øyvind Skald
I really hear Dream Theaters - Falling into Infinity album. But that is just that it could fit into it. Its is not like a copy of any of that songs. But this is prog rock at top shelf. So much space in the music. You don't fil upp every second and that makes it not stressing but relaxing to listen to. And I couldn't hear anytnig wrong with the master, but I must say, I have hearing loss (too much Hi-Gain guitars). A comment to the hot signal. Youtube do adjust and turn down levels, Spotify do the same. Every platform adjust the levels to fit their standard. So the Loudness War is ded in but nobody knows yet. HALF the dynamic range of my masters. half. LOL i think i'm ok in the loudness wars. Edited August 28, 2019 by batsbrew
AndyB01
I could listen to stuff like this all day long - I agree more bluesy than prog but there are shades of Gilmour for me too. A very enjoyable five minutes Andy
garybrun
I listened to it and is a bluesy track for me.. Mix translates well on my focals... There are a lot of frequencies going on in there... which I am sure was hard to fix. Its strange but never really listened to Pink Floyd and dont understand personally what everyone sees in it. Can someone care to illuminate me what everyone raves about? (Serious question as I really don't get it) Edited August 30, 2019 by garybrun

(Serious question as I really don't get it) thanks gary, for listening and commenting. yep, a LOT of frequencies! LOL, maybe too many... i do a lot of subtractive eq with parametric eq and linear phase eq (depending on the source) this seems to be the best way to even certain tracks out. now, the pink floyd thing, i don't know what to say. i came to pink floyd via dark side of the moon, which from beginning to end, is just a perfect album. then i went all the way back in their catalog (they started in '65), then stayed with them up thru the wall... and they have a certain vibe, a certain chemistry, that is VERY hard to find in other bands of the time, and impossible to find now. but this is all subjective to a point: They ARE one of the most commercially successful and influential groups in popular music history, and by 2013, they had sold more than 250 million records worldwide, with The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall two of the best-selling albums of all time. so, there's that. ?
