midi mix issues

i have songs that i am trying to adjust the mix levels but even after i save  them  with the new mix when i go to play them again the saved mix doesn't happen. The original mix still exists. What am i doing wrong or is there a setting that i need to utilize?

Are you saving as MIDI files or CbB projects?

MIDI files can only store MIDI data to retain data that is not part of the MIDI spec save as CbB projects.

If you are opening existing MIDI files, the DAW defaults to saving MIDI files. 

So either do everything using MIDI or

take advantage of non-MIDI DAW features and use File > Save As with Save as type set to Normal to save all the data to a CbB project.

Have you confirmed that the individual tracks in the MIDI file do not still contain MIDI events that can alter the levels of those tracks? - like CC7 or CC11?
