Notes_Norton
I woke up this morning, and "Chicago Serenade" popped into my head. I don't know why. Anyway, I have the LP/CD and I haven't listened to it in years so to satisfy the earworm, I put it on. Jimmy Smith was the master of the B3. Kenny Burrell is one of my favorite jazz guitarists, not just his leads, but when he isn't playing solo, he supports the soloist very well. And you can't go wrong with George Duvivier on bass and Grady Tate on drums. Add the orchestrations of Lalo Schifrin, and you have some very good 1960s ere jazz. I forgive Lalo for not hiring a sax player on this one, but a bit of Stanley Turrentine would have been a good choice.
