Billy86
I know you can designate SENDS to be pre- or post-fader. Can this be done with an FX INSERT?.
reginaldStjohn
From the signal flow diagram it appears that you would have to use an auxilary track or a bus to put an effect in after the tracks fader. If you describe your purpose for doing this it might make it more clear if there is a different way to do what you want.

msmcleod
Set the output of the track to an aux track or bus, then put your fx on that aux track or bus.
Billy86
Thanks for the reply. Yes, that was my workaround thought. So I’ll take from this that it’s not possible to have a pre-fader insert. Cheers.

Insert FX are inherently pre-fader because the FX bin is ahead of the Volume control. It's not possible to have them post-fader

hsmusic
Hopefully this will be a feature in the upcoming release. Would anyone know?

msmcleod
If you need an effect post fader, either create a post fader send to an Aux track, or set the track output to an aux track, then continue the processing in the aux track. It's kind of an odd thing to do though. If you really need a fader in between two insert effects, put an empty FX chain in there.
John Bradley
Or put the effect on stereo bus and route the track there. I do it all the time when I want to fade out or mute an instrument (via volume automation on the track), but *not* abruptly cut off any reverb or delay. akastani
Here is the reason why: The newest version of Izotope Ozone is not available as standalone and needs to be used in a host, like a DAW. In order to use the maximizer as it is intended to, there can't be a fader after the maximizer (at least that's how I understand the purpose of this plugin). How hard is it to allow for a post fader plugin? Cheers Alex

I don't see why that would be an issue; just leave Volume at 0dB. If you want higher level into the Maximizer use Gain. If it's after some other FX in the bin and you need to control Input level to it put an empty FX Chain ahead of it as msmcleod suggested. Anotherr option not mentioned is to put it in a Prochannel FX Chain, and set the Prochannel to Post FX Rack. Lots of ways to skin this cat without having another routing option that 99% of users will never need.
