sean72
Twice today this program has crashed on me and wiped out some good recording takes. Seems to happen when I'm attempting to freeze a track and if I do anything else like even attempt to scrub the timeline it hangs for about 10 seconds and then crashes to the desktop. Is anybody else experiencing this kind of behavior?
Lord Tim
No, it's stable for me doing that. This should have made a crash dump, which you can get off to support:
sean72
Strange, must somehow be hardware related then. I'll look into it. Thanks!
Lord Tim
Possibly hardware related, but also could be plugin or driver related too. If you haven't set your Exception handling severity to 7 then you may not get a crash dump, so make sure you do it here like we talked about earlier: Don't waste time guessing, actually get answers and get it solved so you can get back to work.
Byron Dickens
Have you considered just taking a chill pill and just letting CW do it's thing while you get some coffee or something?
Terry Kelley
I've had unfreezing crash with the latest release. I only recently started using freeze more to remove CPU load and have noticed weird behavior. also, as I posted elsewhere, unfreezing doesn't always position the clip correctly. msmcleod
Double check your anti-virus, OneDrive and any cloud sync settings, and make sure your Cakewalk projects directory, and global audio directory are excluded. If any of these are trying to access the audio files while Cakewalk is using them it could cause a freeze or a crash. 1
Metalhawk
Same problem here. with the last update to date. I have a HUGE project almost finished. I need to freeze one track, it suddenly crashes to the desktop, no questions asked. This is absolutely crazy. I ALWAYS work with internet disabled (ethernet driver disabled). I'm using a new Ultralite MK5 working at 64 samples with no big issues. This problem is blocking me AF.

No need to disable wired networking it is only WiFi networking that screws with DAW operation.

I've just even tried the new SONAR in preview mode (no saving possible) just to double check: SAME RESULT. Which tells me that SONAR is a new frontend version so far. I have no WiFi in my PC. The only thing that I can only think is about Ryzen??? I don't fu***** know... So many years suffering the most random things with SONAR. One gets used to it... The problems is that the amount of projects that I have created with SONAR that has to be finisehd yet is so massive that moving to another DAW could give me suicidal vibes. Wookiee
@Metalhawk what Ryzen CPU are you using, is it a recent one? I am aware there were two, historically, Ryzen's that didn't play well with music production, sorry don't know which one's as I have always been an Intel furry alien. Just an experience thing I suspect, having used PC/Intel computers since the 1980's.
