Keith Wilby Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 (edited) Shameless bubble gum pop time, complete with throw-away lyrics and a bassline knicked from Macca's "My Brave Face" ? https://www.bandlab.com/post/dd79ae77-d860-ed11-819a-000d3a3eefd0 Edited November 10, 2022 by Keith Wilby New mix with organ and bongos
Jesse Screed Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 (edited) I like it! There is nothing wrong with a little bubble gum, even though i don't consider it that. I could hear the original The Honeydrippers doing this one! Great tune, IMO Edited November 8, 2022 by Jesse Screed 1
KSband Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 Hey the Beatles wrote a lot of bubble gum hits too. Good job, another hooky tune. 1
MichaelJohn Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 I like it! Kinda Beatle-ish to me. Middle 60's vibe. This tempo and song style is very shag dance style friendly. If you up the tempo I think the song would still work, and then it would start sounding bubblegumish I think. The wide spaced background vocals really sound amazing! 1
steve@baselines.com Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 It's totally OK to put out bubble gum pop - the world needs more - this sounds really good. I actually even heard a little Todd Rundgren in there (I saw the light). Good show! 1

Sometimes I feel it's a little slow, and my wife says the arrangement is "flat", so rather than speeding it up and having to sing it all again I'm going to try punctuating the arrangement a bit first, maybe an organ or something. Failing that then I'll try a faster tempo.
Bajan Blue Posted November 9, 2022 Posted November 9, 2022 Hi Keith Really like this - well sung and a very good mix Cool Nigel 1
Paul Bush Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Nothing ``shamless´´ about this song as long as you dont dance around in yer underpants like kylie , loved the break , backing vocals hit the spot . nice one.. 1
Lynn Wilson Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Terrific song and performances! This may just be me, but I'd like to hear the lead vocal up a few db's. Otherwise, this is a hit waiting to happen. 1
