edit track when automation is enabled?

this is going to be dumb.

I've been using cakewalk forever.  

 

When I automate a track (volume lets say)  now the envelope shows on the track, and the clips on the track are grey and I cant slip edit  them.   I'm sure I'm missing something stupid.

 

What is it?

Change the Edit Filter drop down (C in the image below) back to Clips

Shift+Click on what you want to edit.
