Don Cobb
I got a short answer about setting the duration of Midi notes on the SI-Bass (said to use the piano roll view, grab the end of the note and stretch it out). I've tried dragging the end of that note (7th note in the pattern) 20 times this morning and the note LOOKS stretched out but is still an eighth note (I'm trying to make it hold for a whole note). Was told to check Midi Editing Forum but I don't see anyone talking about SI-Bass note duration changes. How exactly do I change the duration of a note in SI-Bass? Thanks for any help here. (FYI I was also told to check the Midi Editing forum, and I looked there but it wouldn't let me post this new thread there.) HOLY HOLY HOLY INTRO.ssp Edited August 23, 2022 by Don Cobb Changed "stretch" to "stretched"
rsinger
Electric bass is not an organ. A picked note on a bass may not sustain for long. Try using the virtual keyboard and holding the note down, how long does it sustain?
Glenn Stanton
as noted in your other thread on this topic you should spend some time to learn how to edit midi - note durations, grid, etc. if you enter a note which is 1/8, and need it to be 1, then stretch it. pretty basic. this is an area where a few minutes of reading the manual and some practice it will become second nature. 1
treesha
If you render it to audio you can use melodyne to stretch it. I just stretched out the final bass note at the end of a song last night using melodyne. It turned out very well. If you have melodyne you would make the note you want to stretch a clip and put melodyne on that clip then in the melodyne window lengthen it as needed. I think i hold the alt key as i drag out the right end of the blob. Then render that melodyne clip. Edited August 23, 2022 by treesha
rfssongs
Without recording press the note and hold it, if it doesn't sustain then it will not sustain after you record it either. Synth Bass sounds do tend to sustain longer. If you have a sound that does sustain you can try setting the sound to solo and leave the pedal down. This will make it sustain until the next note plays. That might get you what you want without having to do a lot of editing.
abacab
Drawing an 1/8 note in the piano roll, and then stretching it out to a whole note with the mouse works with SI Bass. It then sustains for 4 beats.
