Safe to connect SDIF I/O to route-back into DAW ??

Hi,

I am wanting to verify an exported mix against a mix that was not exported.  In order to do this I need to route real-time out and back into a stereo track inside the DAW.  I have a Fireface 400 with RCA SPDIF I/O jacks and was thinking of cabling them together to accomplish the routing.  Anybody have any idea if this plan is safe or am I going to somehow risk blowing up the Fireface ?? ....

I don't have access to a FF400 but it appears its version of TotalMix supports loopback.

This should do what you want without additional cabling.

Check out section "32.5 Recording a Subgroup (Loopback)" in the FF400 manual.
