Keith Wilby
So-called because I've always imagined this being performed in an illegal drinking establishment in a smoky 1920s basement by a jazz quartet (that just happens to have a full string section with them) ? https://www.bandlab.com/post/e77d9ed4-4704-ed11-b47a-281878315d59

freddy j
Well done! I can just imagine this in the establishment you described. Well maybe the strings might be hard to fit on a basement stage but they certainly add to the song.

DeeringAmps
My original piano instructor evidently spent much time performing in such establishments in his youth in Chicago. I made the mistake of asking my father “are the stories that Mr Williams tells about playing speakeasies true?” That ended that… Great tune Keith, really cool how the vocal comes in after the solos dry. Very effective. What sax libraries are you using. Man you are “close”. Getting great sax is tough! ?&? t putting the kibosh on the Williams stories prompted me to NOT report the 8mm porn that played during the last set of most the college frat gigs we played when I was in junior high and high school. Not to mention no one seemed to care if we hit the keg during breaks. Lesson learned…
David Sprouse
Jealous of your lyrical chops. Great song!

I really enjoyed reading your post, most entertaining ? The sax sound is from my 1990s vintage Yamaha PSR-SQ16. I tried the TTS-1 one and it didn't cut the mustard, so I reverted to type. There really are some great sounds in that old thing ?
