problems using Fifine usb mic with Cakewalk

Cakewalk does not like my Fifine usb mic. The audio it records sounds wildly distorted at playback. My Cakewalk is configured to use the correct USB PNP audio device. The same device sounds fine in Audacity. Any suggestions?

Those USB microphones are notoriously problematic for DAW use.
