Why can't we name the files we export?

I know I'm probably way behind the times, I'm just curious.

I do the obvious and open the file explorer and re-name them. I'm just wondering why it is that way. There is probably some convenience I'm not understanding.

Are you saying the file name entry in the Export dialog does not work?

You can most certainly name the export in many different ways.
