Clint Swank Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 (edited) First thing I've recorded since Sonar died (and I almost did). Turns out THIS is the remix. Soundcloud is weird sometimes. Edited April 8, 2022 by Clint Swank 1
Lee Shapiro Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 Sounds great, very funky groove. I like the subtle organ part. Can I ask what you used for the organ?
Clint Swank Posted April 7, 2022 Author Posted April 7, 2022 There are actually three instruments : Native Instruments organ and clavinet and IK hammond bx3. The bX three is the most prominent, NI organ is an octave lower, and the clavinet is a sneaky way of giving the organs a little more bite. Thanks for listening and the compliments. PhonoBrainer Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 I like it, it's got stank and swagger! Kudos on the songwriting chops. The mix has a lot of thoughtful panning, very cool. Lead guitar part in the middle has a killer tone! The mix has some pretty high-eq bias, lots of sparkle and sizzle up there on vocals and hi-hats, which is nice and clean, but it might do with a little more high eq rolloff on those, just a hair ought to tame the occasional spitiness up top. Wouldn't want to take the upper clarity away. loved this one, thanks for the share! cheers, -Tom
Wookiee Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 Basically it sound OK but as Tom notes it has very little bottom.
jack c. Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 also the bottom is huge.what is that organ vst?jack c.
Clint Swank Posted April 7, 2022 Author Posted April 7, 2022 IK Hammond Bx 3, Native instruments organ(same part,an octave lower) and NI clavinet, adds a little edge.
Clint Swank Posted April 7, 2022 Author Posted April 7, 2022 Btw I used to watch the Sons in Golden Gate Park back in the day. Yeah THAT day. Way back in thee day.
Clint Swank Posted April 7, 2022 Author Posted April 7, 2022 It's said that "A work is never finished but abandoned." Nevertheless, I'm gonna go back and tamp down those highs a little, keeping in mind these 74 year old ears and their lust for treble. I'll post the results here. Thanks for the advice and the compliments, folks.

Clint Swank Posted April 8, 2022 Author Posted April 8, 2022 (edited) Remix redux. Top one is the remix, bottom is original. Edited April 8, 2022 by Clint Swank
Bajan Blue Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 Cool track, really enjoyed the listen - i went straight for the remix, which i thought sounded fine Nigel
Jesse Screed Posted April 9, 2022 Posted April 9, 2022 I love it! Funky is always good. If you are asking for crtis, it sounds like you are holding back a bit on the vocals, like you are afraid someone will hear you, but that is just me, I just finished listening to some punk rock. Write some more!
Clint Swank Posted April 9, 2022 Author Posted April 9, 2022 Yeah, well, I'm 74, and I haven't been singing for a while. Vocal is first take.
