Question

Posted

I've been using cakewalk for less than a year.

When I import my flac files I don't see them on my monitor.

I don't see individual tracks (or any tracks).  Importing has worked ok in the past, What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be appreciated!

I just create a flac file in SoundForge

The file imported OK using File > Import > Audio and dragging the clip from the media browser

Running CbB 2022.02 build 36 on Win10 Pro 21H2

How are you importing the files?

If you upload a file, I'll be happy to see if it imports on my machine.

What steps did you take?

I just took a 726,630 KB flac file (outdoors open mic recording (birds, dogs, kids, planes, cars, etc.) approx. 2 1/2 hours), dragged it from a  file finding utility called "Everything" into a new instance of my personal blank template (into the track header area)..

Due to the size of the file, it took a  little while for Cakewalk to convert it, but after a couple of minutes I had the file in Cakewalk as an audio track.

I am sure there are other methods that would work, too.

EDIT: I am also using CbB 2022.02 build 36, Win 10 Pro 21H2.  My PC is a minimal system--2011 era PC, duo core Intel chip, 8 GB RAM system.

UPDATE: I just tried (a) dragging a flac file from Cakewalk's Media Browser and (b) double clicking the file in the Media Browser.  Both methods worked.

Cakewalk will take anything you throw at it including movie clips.
Never had problems with flac.
Cakewalk converts any audio format into Wave at your projects Sample rate. It seems to maintain the bit depth  however,  so if you rip a CD ( 44.1hz) and drop it in a 48hz project the audio will be 48/16.
