Automation Question

I created a “fade out” at the end of a project using automation.  If automation is used does this lock mixer parameters?  The automation is just the last few measures, and if I adjust mixer settings at anytime during the project the fader snaps back the moment I release it.  

Right now, I’ve just been opening up the VST assigned to the track and adjusting its master volume.
