Still, the Same ambient instrumental

Recommended Posts

This is an older song of mine that I wanted to work on again. It has sounds from DPro, my Yamaha sy55, surge, and the guitar is from New Nation one called Blaque that I got in a bundle of theirs recently. I tried several other guitar vsts and they just would not fit right. It’s a bit on the dark side of ambient I think, never sure what to call stuff. Comments and feedback welcome ! Thanks

Hi Larry T,  thanks for listening and your positive feedback. I always appreciate when a comment refers to some group that it reminds the person of because then I get to learn about some new music.  I really enjoyed making the bass and drums, I added an extra layer of kick maybe my first time doing that. My ancestry is european so who knows ha. Two comments about it sounding like spy music, works for me ! Thanks again

Very nice.  I particularly liked the bass and the chord change around 1:50 or so.

Hi jwnicholson78, thanks for listening and your comment, I really like the bass too, bass was one of my first musical inclinations. Glad you enjoyed it and let me know !

Thanks for posting the links! I guess my time playing reggae/dub bass around baltimore-dc with jamaican musicians is in there somewhere for you to make this connection ha. I wasn't around there anymore when they started up so I had not heard of them. Grateful for your posts !

Nice track & I like that gtr vsti sounds too, it fits nicely.  There are a few spots where I'd give it that more space, letting it ring out over the measures more instead of playing through it. Then when it's playing more at around 2:51 it makes that build up to the end more effective. Grain of salt & all that...enjoyed it.

Hi Hidden Symmetry, thanks for listening and your feedback. I did try several gtr vsti that didn't work and thought this one did, thanks for mentioning you think it fits too. I like the idea of playing with space leading up to the build up to the end, thanks for the suggestion. If I rework it, I will keep that in mind or for other songs.

Treesha , Cool !  I'm really liking the high end stuff in this one. I like the 007 feel and dark changes as well. Very well done. For some reason I was wanting to hear some Muslim call to prayer type vocals in some select parts.. Enjoyed it ..  mark

Hey mark, glad you appreciate the high end ha, most comments appreciate the low end. Oh yes I think it would be interesting to add some mysterious indistinct male vocals to it, maybe like one of 007s villains,  thanks for listening and for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed it.

real nice tones.how about some spoken word in spots.jack c.

Hi jack c., thanks for listening and for your comments, glad you enjoyed the tones. I have a friend who did some of his spoken word poetry on another of my instrumental songs and if he feels up to it I think that would work for this one too. Thanks again

Hi David, thanks for listening and your comment. I guess it was slowly evolving because its Still, ha. I used the new nation guitar vsti called Blaque which I assume is what you think sounds sitar? Sitar would have been interesting in there. Thanks again
