SynthManDan
So, I’m considering SampleTank 4 SE. It’s currently on sale for $49.99 on their website. Anyone using SampleTank with Cakewalk? Any compatibility issues? SMD
Craig Anderton
Haven't had any problems so far, but I went for SampleTank 4 MAX. It's has like 46 billion terabytes of sound data, haven't downloaded it all yet I assume SE is pretty much the same. 1
ZincT
I am running ST4 standard and the only issue I have is I cannot run all of my ST3 MAX legacy instruments e.g. American Acoustic. I have an outstanding support ticket for this problem. You might find this table useful as it shows you which instruments are included with each version of ST4 (ST4 SE, ST4 and ST4 MAX): https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/include/st4/soundlist/SampleTank_4_comparison.pdf
Simeon Amburgey
I have also been using SampleTank 4 MAX and like @Craig Anderton the library download and installation is not for the faint of heart. Once successful I recommend saving the installation files on a separate drive in case you ever need to install them again. SampleTank 4 SE is a nice way to get started at this price however and you have the option to upgrade to the larger libraries in the future. There have been no issues using it with the latest version of Cakewalk; you have settings that help you customize some of the streaming and sample memory options to tailor it to your individual system.
SynthManDan
Thanks everyone! I have two hard drives on my computer, and if I get SampleTank it will definitely go on my SSD. Wouldn’t want a program that intensive streaming from my standard drive. SMD
