Why does the audio to midi conversion fail

I drag an audio file with a simple melody onto the midi track and instrument and it doesn't do anything. The tracks remain empty after the conversion. What am I doing wrong?

Melodyne not installed? (free version can be installed from Bandlab Assistant).

The trial version of melodyne has already expired.

The free version will not do MIDI extraction. Celemony no longer allows it.
