kday
How can I record drum notes to a Cakewalk midi timed sequence? Do I use Clips or something else? I want to use Cakewalk as a midi sequencer. Thanks
reginaldStjohn
I am not sure I understand exactly what you want to do. However, there are some excelent documentation about how to record in cakewalk. http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Recording.01.html You can either insert a midi track, arm it to record and play the midi into cakewalk with a midi keyboard or other Midi input device like a midi drum kit. You can enter notes by hand in the Piano Roll View (PVR) You can you a step sequencer view to enter midi notes, mostly used for drum grooves. Originally that was all it was. Audio editing and VSTI's were added years later. For drum note editing, using the step sequencer may be easier to understand than the Piano Roll View. Don't even open Staff View to edit drums. Creative Sauce videos mentioned above will be a good starting point.
