Bandlab Assistant

Hi i run Cakewalk by bandlab on my old windows 7 64bit machine ,iv run it for years with out a problem

But for some reason the latest Assistant will not update Cakewalk by bandlab

And when i launch cakewalk and go to help ,check for updates i get

Win HTTP send request12175:A Security error occurred, very frustrating

I,v looked into this and have tried everything the only way i,v managed to get an update is to use an earlier version of Bandlab Assistant

Its just a ridiculous situation .

Hi Glenn and welcome to the Cakewalk forums.

When you open Cakewalk, do you see a toast message in the lower right corner?  There should be one regarding an available update with two option, one of them being download update.

Bandlab is phasing out the need to use Bandlab Assistant for updates.  Not sure what's going on with using the menus to check for updates.  I'm not getting the error.

Starting with CbB 2020.09 there is no reason to use BA to update CbB.

There is an update option on the CbB help menu. See http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=NewFeatures.027.html

Keep in mind Windows 7 is not supported. For more info see

Windows 7 is not supported. Windows 7 is what, 12 years old?

Windows 11 is coming out now!

Supported or not , I updated CbB on my win7 pc last week . No Problem .

Thanks everyone for your help and comments ,Iv been using cakewalk for a long time in fact since it very first started

With the error code generated its the TLS 1and 2 that is the problem.

Probably just download direct from now on ,this never ever happened in the past

I guess there's always something nothing ever runs smooth .

To update your TLS to 1.2, install this:  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/update-to-enable-tls-1-1-and-tls-1-2-as-default-secure-protocols-in-winhttp-in-windows-c4bd73d2-31d7-761e-0178-11268bb10392

Note that you may already have the update, but it's just not enabled.  If this is the case, you just need to install this: 
https://download.microsoft.com/download/0/6/5/0658B1A7-6D2E-474F-BC2C-D69E5B9E9A68/MicrosoftEasyFix51044.msi
