VST scan issues

Recommended Posts

When I start Cakewalk it starts the VST scan and then as soon as it does a couple of things happen:

1. It doesn't pick up the SI Instruments at all

2. It quickly appears to hang up while saying "Scanning bzrclient.dll..."

What do I do? I have this thing run for 4 hours and nothing changed. I was using Cakewalk and never had that problem on that computer and it's an

old laptop.

Is bzrclient.dll in a VST plug-in folder? Searching Google indicates this may be game related.

Review the scan path settings in preferences.

It may be they are causing the scanner to scan folders containing non-VST related dlls.

The image in the link shows the default scan path. Maybe start with the default and add back paths that only contain VST plug-ins.

Post the scan path here if necessary.

The second line in the scan path is a problem.

The scan path should contain paths with VST2 and VST3 plug-ins only.

Scanning the entire D drive is likely to result in the scanner trying to load dlls that have nothing to do with VST plug-ins like bzrclient.dll.

Replace the second line in the scan path with the location(s) where audio plug-ins are installed.

Avoid duplicate paths, for example, do not add d:\vstplugins\somepath, if d:\vstplugins is already in the scan path.
