SI VSTS "failed to load"

Ukulele Steve G

Question

Error message when I  try to insert any of the SI synths.  First they weren't showing up at all as synths so I had to manually enable each one as a synth.

Also, the si 's show up in green type in the plugins dialogue box on the right.

FYI - Had to completely uninstall CW and reinstall it again to get the metronome to work.

 Thanks in advance.

Make sure the plug-ins are actually on the drive.

They are a separate install and depending on how the uninstall/re-install was performed, they may not be on the drive.

If they are not on the drive, they will need to be re-installed.

Did you  perform a clean re-install?

If they are on the drive run a VST reset with "Generate Scan Log" enabled.

It may provide some clue what is going on with the plug-ins.

BA keeps track of what it has installed.

Once an add-on is installed, the install option is disabled.

It is possible to edit the registry to clear the install records.

This happens as part of a clean install (the link I provided above).

I guess the questions now are:

  • Do you want to start over with a clean install?
  • Do you want to just reset the BA install records?
  • Do you want to continue to work the SI issue and assume the rest of the install is OK?

If you elect to perform a clean install be aware that step 8 will delete all 3rd party plug-ins under the "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk" folder. If you have any 3rd party plug-ins installed there (usually they would be in "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins") consider save the folder to somewhere else before  proceeding with step 8 and restore the folder(s) after running the CbB installer.

That appears to be what the scan log shows. Near the bottom of VstScan.log

Quote

VSTSCAN: Finished analyzing VST plugins - 0 of 0 VST plugins were scanned in this run

The log shows a reset was run, the registry was cleared, 32 dlls were found but none were scanned.

Is the disk compressed?

The logs appears to be a VST reset.

I expected a reset to  scan all the dlls.

The scanner found 32 VST binaries but claims it scanned none of them.

The drive properties General tab at the bottom has a checkbox for disk compression.
