CDK
Hi everyone, I'm exporting a MIDI file from Cakewalk to open in another DAW but for some reason the tempo map/info isn't included. Have I missed something here?
57Gregy
I don't think tempo is part of the MIDI standard. Whenever I drag a .mid into a project, it assumes the tempo already set in the project.

CbB Import strips tempo data from MIDI files. Opening MIDI files preserves MIDI tempo data. MIDI file save and export include MIDI data. 10 hours ago, CDK said: I'm exporting a MIDI file from Cakewalk to open in another DAW but for some reason the tempo map/info isn't included. Not sure how the other DAW works but it should be easy to see if a MIDI file contains tempo by opening the file in CbB, playing the file or view the data using MIDICSV
57Gregy
Thanks. I was going by my too-faulty memory. Seems it's not getting any better as I travel through time.
John Vere
Yes always OPEN a midi file. This is true for me not only Cakewalk, but with Cubase and Harrison Mix bus. I'm sure it's universal to all DAW's. Importing is not for whole songs but for when you want a midi clip added too a project.
