jono grant
Hi, I have no issue making MP3s from Cakewalk but my sister is trying it and getting a message about having to buy an encoder. Anybody know about this? Just wondering what to tell her. Thanks Jono
John Vere
It was a million years ago we had to pay. What version is she using?

John Vere
That's real old info, You do not have to activate MP3 encoder in CbB. Only real old obsolete versions of Sonar which nobody should be using anyhow.

Didn't realize the thread had outdated info even though it was less than a month old. I have removed the link. Thanks. abacab
The free LAME MP3 encoder is supported by Cakewalk. The MP3 patent expired years ago, so nobody has to buy an encoder any more. You can also easily export to MP3 in the free Audacity wave editor. Just import your final stereo wave mix into Audacity and convert there, as it also supports LAME. John Vere
Myself I use Gold Wave. It's free to use forever ( nag screen @abacab ) = I paid the $50 a long time ago for lifetime membership. Great little Canadian software company- yes we are also hi tech and not just all about snowmobiles.
jono grant
Thanks, she was using an old version and didn't realize it! I didn't understand because BL version includes the mp3 encoder. Thanks! J
