Mark Browne
Hi all. I use Cakewalk and Reaper on one machine, but only have Reaper on a 2nd. Do I need to have Cakewalk installed on the 2nd machine to use the SI instruments in Reaper. They don't seem to work just copying the dll files. Thanks! Starship Krupa
I'm not 100% sure it's possible by just copying the files, but if it were, you'd need to go into C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\ and copy the whole Studio Instruments folder and its contents to a folder on the other system that Reaper scans for VST's. Never tried it but it should get all the bitmaps and samples over.
Nigel Mackay
I think they need to be installed for the links to the samples to work. But try just copying that folder to the exact same location on the other machine. Edited December 24, 2020 by Nigel Mackay
scook
Copying dlls is not a substitute for running the installer. Installers do a lot more than copy files, They setup the environment for the software. As a rule, if software comes with an installer, the best course of action is add the software to the PC using the manufacturer supplied installer. The Studio Instrument Suite will not run by simply copying the files whether they are in the exact location or not. 2
