InstrEd
How many notes do you count for a Glissando? If you do a trill do you stop and count each note to? I know I'm a pain in the Dupa ?
JohnG
Well, two schools of thought here. 1. The notes that are printed in the score. 2. All the notes played, including Glissandi and Trills. Last one is difficult as it varies by performance IMHO. Personally I go for # 1 (perhaps I'd better rephrase that) personally I prefer the first option, it's a lot easier than counting during a performance. I also find counting the number of strikes in a timpani roll sheer hell on earth! (No wonder I'm going deaf.) But ... yer pays yer monee and yer takes yer choice.
