Kevin Walsh Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Native Instruments FINALLY ships version 6 of what I thought was a dead product line. I was eligible for the upgrade pricing so naturally I had to get it. I'm playing with it now and it sounds pretty damned good to my cauliflower ears. I use version 5 a great deal. I also own S-Gear and Helix Native and while I tend to reach for S-Gear I have always found a use for GTR. So I'm pretty pumped that 6 has been released.
Magic Russ Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 I like 6 so far. It might have been nice for more new maps but the new cabs are nice.
Kevin Walsh Posted October 10, 2020 Author Posted October 10, 2020 Sounds of existing presets are pretty nice. I haven't messed with any new cabs or IR's yet or any of the new amps, just getting to know the new UI. Not too impressed with the new navigation. The DAW intercepts keystrokes and interprets them as macros when I use the search dialog! Works fine in standalone mode. Maybe there's a setting somewhere to control that . So far the sound compares favorably with S-Gear to my poorly tuned ear.
Magic Russ Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 I prefer the Fire Breather to the Stealer, but for me the Custom '57 works better than the Chicago. Regarding your keystroke problem, if you are using Cakewalk, there is a button to send keystrokes to the plugin.
Kevin Walsh Posted October 11, 2020 Author Posted October 11, 2020 Love the stealer too but I'm enjoying wailing on the fire breather. I actually think I prefer the Chicago. And check out the Tweedman, nice!
sjoens Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 Can you install it beside GR5? I had issues with GR4 not working after installing GR5.
Kevin Walsh Posted October 15, 2020 Author Posted October 15, 2020 Yes I have 5 and 6 running side by side with no issues so far.
Max Arwood Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 Did you find the button to send keystrokes to the plugin? It is a little keyboard icon in the top right of window next to the pin icon. I have a few plugins I have to use this on.
Mucrafta Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Vers. 6 is very cpu intensive with some presets. On my system.
