Dragging and dropping in synth plug in not working...

Upon dragging my synth software (Tunefish4), which works the majority of the time, into my song... The synth does not appear in the tracks on the left hand side (using advanced lense) for me to manipulate using piano roll. It does although appear in the console at the bottom? Usually when draggig and dropping my synth into the song it generates an empty single track in which I can use a piano roll to insert music into. Does anyone know why this issue is a thing? Much appreciated.

It sounds like you've changed your insert synth options at some point. Cakewalk always remembers the last settings you used.

From what you've described, I think you're expecting it to be set to Simple Instrument Track. Make sure Simple Instrument Track is checked on the dialog when you drag/drop:

It should pop up any time you insert a soft synth:

The dialogue doesn't appear with any synth I drag in, even the standard cakewalk TTS synth. ?

Ah, the "Ask This Every Time" checkbox must have been unchecked.

Open up the synth rack, and click on the "Insert Synth Options" button:
