George Nauman
Hi - complete newbie here. Just stumbled across Stochas and I'm trying to figure out how to set it up in Cakewalk. If I drag it over to create a track, it does so, but I don't see how to map it to sounds. Hope that makes sense - any help is very appreciated. Thanks! scook
I am guessing this plug-in shows up as a synth so follow option #1 in this thread Add a synth plug-in (with the appropriate track(s)) to the project to play the data coming from the sequencer.
George Nauman
Thank you very much! This got me up and running. Need to work out a few kinks in what I'm trying to do, but at least I now have something to listen to. Thanks again!
Stephen Demers
I've just started trying out Stochas. I'd like to hear the patterns that make before recording them. At this point I can only hear them after recording them. Thanks for any help.
William Hopper
I've used it successfully, but I'm still working out bugs. I doesn't load as an effect like it does in Reaper, but load it as a synth. Then load your synth of choice and set the input to be the output of Stochas. On each layer of Stochas, set the MIDI channel to a unique channel and match that with your synth's input channel. I've run 4 at one time and it works slick. If you want to hear the output without recording anything, just set loop points. Cakewalk will play if there's a loop even if there is not data in the tracks. This causes Stochas to run and output MIDI notes. I use it to create random ambient backgrounds for improvising on Native American Flute.

If you (or anyone else reading this zombie thread) are interested in stochastic methods for composition, you should check out my tips regarding Cakewalk's built-in support for this:
