yondolash
I've had cakewalk on 3 different computers, all windows 10, with this same issue. There's no problems when just using virtual instruments or playing already recorded audio and no problem recording virtual instruments thru a patch point, but when arming an audio input, default sound card or audio interface (soundcraft mtk 12, drivers properly installed), the playback line stops after less than a second without playing any tracks, when recording, after the fact recorded audio shows up. Even if not recording, if an audio input track is armed, same result, within one second the playback line stops without playing what's in that section. Computers all have at least a quad core and adequate ram and doesn't even hit 20% cpu usage. I've tried a few audio driver modes most recently using asio4all as some of my needs will also require using 2 different audio interfaces for live shows. On top of that, on the audio input channel it will not display any metering . Recording functions properly with metering in other programs but not cakewalk. I find it strange this issue exists on other computers with a fresh install, and I have tried reinstalling on all computers and as it appears to me is that the current release is straight up broken. Any help would be greately appreciated as I like this program, but seeing as I'm using this in a professional recording environment, and live performances to give digital board capabilities without the need to purchase a digital soundboard. Thank you Edited July 27, 2020 by yondolash

yondolash
Yes. Same as when the track is armed, activating input echo causes the same playback issues, and still no metering
yondolash
I also have tried bringing the input to an unarmed track and route it to another thru a patch point, something that works for me when only virtual instruments are involved, but gives the same issues
scook
Patch points are not necessary for recording unless you want to record effects applied to tracks in real time. They are definitely not needed to record soft synths. For recording audio in real time using soft synths see https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=SoftSynths.27.html For now uninstall ASIO4All. Pick a computer and interface. If you decide to use the soundcraft mixer then setup CbB to use its driver and the appropriate driver mode If you decide to use the internal pc sound chip use one of the WASAPI driver modes. When you have settled on a computer and an interface provide details about the hardware and images of Preferences > Driver Settings and Playback and Recording. Start with a simple project using the Basic project template with one audio track and no plug-ins. When the transport stops unexpected, if there is a toast message with a drop out code. Please provide the code.
