How to remove a part (e.g. some seconds) in a MIDI track

I import  MIDI file, and I want to remove a part (e.g. 5 seconds) in the MIDI track.

What I'm able to do is just to remove the content of the mentioned 5 seconds, but I don't know how to eliminate the silent 5 seconds.

Right-click in the MIDI track at the beginning of the gap.) Select Split. Choose Split at Selection. Do the same for the end of the gap. Now the bit that has the gap is separate from the rest. Click on that bit and delete it.

Now click and drag the left edge of the right-hand bit up to the left-hand bit to close the gap.

You might have to play with the Snap settings to get it exact.
