Beginner - Can't get sound from my guitar

I've just started to try and use Cakewalk but I can't get any sound from my guitar. Cakewalk is getting a signal because I can see the volume monitor go up and down as I strum. I'm not sure of the solution. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

To hear the signal at a track's input requires enabling the track input echo button to the right of the record button

Are you using the guitar signal D.I. (straight) or with an effect like some plug in?
