Another sound not playing through speakers question

Question

Posted

Hello all,

So downloaded and set up cakewalk yesterday on my laptop. I cannot hear anything just from my laptop speakers. I do not have monitor speakers i have an amp and speakers i was running out the mic connection on FL trial. Even then i had issues to get it to work. Anyway the pertinent info -

I am using a focusrite scarlett solo and an akai mpk mini

It would not recognise the scarlett and after reading up it was the asio4all driver interfered with the scarlett driver so unistalled all and installed scarlett ones again

Cakewalk now gives me the scarlet option for audio input and output but that and only that

Midi gives me the right ones for that its fine.

When i start up Cakewalk with nothing connected  it says There are no audio devices for the current driver model on your system please go to edit preferences etc to choose a different driver model. Thats the issue its not giving me any.

Then when i go into project it says that the following tracks and buses are assigned to a silent hardware output and they will be silent until their output is assignedto the appropriate output and in the box its the Master.

I just want to be able to play around with tracks on the laptop alone without being connected to everything else so thats why my dilemma.

Ive tried to include all the info i can to help give a picture as im fairly new to using a DAW and this may be easy for a seasoned user.

Any help greatly appreciated,

Cheers

The driver mode in the error message refers to the screen below. With the internal audio chip try the WASAPI modes if running Win10, WDM for older OSes and MME as a last resort.

Hi Scook thanks for the reply. In the end i got it working with the driver mode on MME although ive heard that the recording will not be great on that but im not exactly an artist just an enthusiast so i guess that will do. Really appreciate the response though thanks you .

You are welcome. The recording/mix quality will be fine, the problem with MME is the  time it takes from plucking a string or pressing a key and hearing sound from the DAW.

I had a similar problem until I finally realised that I needed to take the stereo RCA outputs on the back of the Focusrite Scarlett Solo to the inputs of my A/V receiver and monitors.

After I did that, all is really fine.It took hours.
