Piano roll/step sequencer notes don't match up with virtual instruments

Hi,

When I write in the piano roll or assign kit pieces to the step sequencer I have to assign them two octaves higher than  the instruments to get them to work (eg if the kick drum is C1 in the instrument I have to write/assign it to C3 in the piano roll/sequencer for it to work).

This is the case for every drum kit/instrument I've used so far.

Is there an easy way to change this by default?
