Not saying they do this, this is just an example of what can be done: Maybe they are taking your profile info and selling it. Don't worry, you'll pay for it . even if you are unaware of it ? Starship Krupa
Why is Google Chrome free? Why is Audacity Free? Why is MediaHuman Audio Convertor Free? Why is MusicBee Free?
Notes_Norton
Generally if something on the Internet is free, you are not the customer - you are the product. I don't know if that applies here or not - it could very well be a loss-leader. Notes
Lemar Sain
To gain memberships to the Bandlab platform. To lure in more serious musicians and to retain the ones who out grow the limitations of the online and mobile apps. A huge Bandlab user base is the short goal. That in itself has value. Bandlab is a combination online DAW like Soundation, user content streaming service like Soundcloud and social media platform like twitter. For this to work you need users and lots of them.

Here is an example where Meng states: Platform and future product updates will continue to be free, just like BandLab - innovation must push forward! But don't expect Rapture Pro for example to be free when it is re-released ? (except for those that have bought it before in some way or form and have already created a BandLab account) So, the basic product is free (similar to what Cakewalk started doing with SHS) but there are plans for paid add-ons.

InstrEd
Really I'm hoping a storefront comes soon so I can support Bandlab for keeping my favorite DAW alive.
Craig Anderton
It's a tractor beam to draw people into the BandLab ecosystem. And you can't sell add-ons unless people have the core program. As a precedent, consider IK's AmpliTube Free. It's a fine amp sim and free, but they make their money from people going to the Custom Shop and buying more modules.
