Hero - a tribute to Neil Peart

A tribute to Neil Peart…the rhythm track was recorded before he passed away; it already had a strong early-period Rush kind of direction and vibe by design as it was a collaboration between  myself(drums and recording)  and  my  friend,   guitarist Jimmy Ryan.

There we a few places that lent themselves to vocal parts, so Jim wrote the lyrics in his memory from a reverent & heartfelt perspective and there you go. It’s really an extended instrumental piece with vocal interludes. Its a bit long  but I hope it keeps your interest.      Thanks, Dan Van Schindel

Well done ! I especially liked the change around the 4 mark. Could build an entire song around that section alone.  I thought the drums were Fantastic. Sure must be nice not having to work with a drum synth. Enjoyed it.    mark

Great drum performance and mixing, and same with the guitars. That doubletime section was friggin awesome. You guys know what you are doing!!!

I'm a big Rush fan from decades ago, appreciate the reference and your tribute.

Very nice! You both did a great job putting this together. My only nit, and it's certainly just my opinion, I would have liked more close miking on the drums so they could be more spread out and punchy.

Thanks for taking the time to listen guys! We're both only a couple years younger than Neil was and we feel lucky we can still rock a bit.  Dan, I  appreciate  your small nit, as the drummer and recording engineer of our projects I always worry about my drum placement.  Never wanting anyone to say, this must be mixed by the drummer. I will consider your recommendation moving forward.

A cool rocking tune and a good tribute to Neil Peart - the drumming was excellent in this one. There's some impressive guitar playing as well.

Trying to catch up on pages worth of song postings, but had to comment - great tribute piece.   As a classic Rush fan for decades I very much enjoyed this.
