David Sprouse Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 Kept me on the edge of my seat for 3'38" Bravo! Bravo! 1
dcumpian Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Excellent piece! You did a great job of keeping the theme going and keeping it interesting at the same time. The mix on this is quite good as well. Dan 1
DeeringAmps Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Very nice soundstage on this one. Definitely see this in film/tv. Maybe “hear” this. t 1

Starise Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 I'm sorry to hear of the misfortune there and hope it gets sorted and recovery goes well. Never heard of the sine wave idea. Works nicely here and sounds like a low bass drone which technically I guess it is. I get a feeling of melancholy with the combinations of piano and strings. This definitely has some tension in it that works well with the ideas behind it. Thanks for sharing! 1
TracingArcs Posted March 3, 2020 Author Posted March 3, 2020 Thanks Starise. And much appreciate your thoughts. 1
Douglas Kirby Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 A very intense composition - it gave me an ominous feeling - like something bad is going to happen - nicely done. Like someone else mentioned - this would fit well in a film score. I thought the mix sounded quite nice to my ears. 1
TracingArcs Posted March 4, 2020 Author Posted March 4, 2020 Thanks Douglas. It's pleasing to know I may be getting something right !
bjornpdx Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Tells a story in song. It's repetitive but in a good way, but varying with the chord changes That piano refrain really adds to the ominous vibe. Actually I think it is the ominous vibe. Still not sure what you mean by sine underneath. I'm thinking a drone-ish sine wave based pad in the background? Whatever, it works. 1
TracingArcs Posted March 6, 2020 Author Posted March 6, 2020 Thank you bjornpdx. I'm interested in systems music (Reich, Cage, etc) so repetition evolves over time. But that's not enough I feel, so follow it with changes over the top. The sine trick is to use a single sine wave following the same notes as a bass or cello line to add weight. But in this case used it as a drone. Much appreciate the feedback.
daryl1968 Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 very nice composition - definitely evoked the rain. Based in South Wales here so I feel your pain. 1
TracingArcs Posted March 6, 2020 Author Posted March 6, 2020 Many thanks daryl1968. I was up working in the W.Midlands and saw for myself the devastation. And thanks for the compliment. 1
PhonoBrainer Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 This is the stuff. I loved it. Sorry to hear about the flooding. The chills vibe is strong with this one. cheers, -Tom 1
freddy j Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 Very sorry to hear about the devastation in your country. Seems things are a bit crazy (weather-wise) around the world. Mama nature must be getting a bit ticked off at human kind. Now about the song. Excellent work! The mix is good but the composition and arrangement are most cool. The wandering repetitive piano centerpiece matched with the ominous deep string sounds definitely set the stage for an emotional response. This composition is just begging for a video to go along with it. Enjoyed it enough that I had to give it a second listen. 1
TracingArcs Posted March 9, 2020 Author Posted March 9, 2020 Thanks emeraldsoul. Very pleased you like the vibe
TracingArcs Posted March 9, 2020 Author Posted March 9, 2020 Many thanks freddy j. And some people deny there is such a thing as climate change ? A lot of my stuff is based on an imaginary film or scene.
