mark skinner Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Here's an acoustic ballad I've been going back and forth with for a while. Shortened it a few times but now settled on this longer version. Fictional lost love break up song from a guy getting the last word in , but too tired to get excited . Any feedback welcome. Thanks for the listen .. mark https://soundcloud.com/user-810058643/so-cold 2

Hidden Symmetry Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 I enjoyed this very much. It all sounds great; guitars, groove & vocals. Nice! 1
David Sprouse Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 like a summer breeze. Boz Scaggs influence? 1
Johnbee58 Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 Combination of Boz Scaggs and some George Benson thrown in for good measure. Nice. And your voice is slick!! ?John B 1
noynekker Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 (edited) Yes a great listen on a Friday night, amazing , thank you . . . I had to laugh when JohnBee58 and David Sprouse said Boz Scaggs, because it is so reminiscent of that sound, but never thought it until it was mentioned . . . so much talent in the guitar work in all your songs I've heard here. Beagle Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 This is really nice all around! great acoustics, great sound on the recordings, really nice on the mix. excellent vocals. really good stuff! 1
PhonoBrainer Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 Wow. That thing grooves hard. Vocals up would be my only offering. Well done sir! -Tom 2
DeeringAmps Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Lots to like here, that is for sure! Thumbs up, thumbs up. Now, there’s always a but, lots of low end, but I would like a bit more definition on the kick and bass. Both are better on the cans than in the car. Not muddy, just “there” but not well defined. There’s a high pitched percussive element in the right can that’s just a bit too loud on the Bose cans here. I love the tune. t 2
bjornpdx Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Hey Mark Wow one of those songs that takes me away to some tropical beach, pina colada in hand. Well maybe that's just me. Gonna play it again. I like it. 1
dcumpian Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Awesome track Mark! You've got this down for sure. Dan 2
mark skinner Posted February 24, 2020 Author Posted February 24, 2020 Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and fantastic comments. You always help me identify problem areas I'm not aware of. I really appreciate the Boz Scaggs references , definitely take that as a compliment. I love doing instrumentals but I've started working harder on vocal songs before my Old voice kicks the bucket for good. Thanks again ... mark 1
Starise Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 I love these sharper mixes. I think this is right in the pocket for this kind of material. Comes across excellent here. Much talent in the guitars and the singing! 1
Douglas Kirby Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Very cool track - I thought your vocal fit perfectly for the style of the song. I thought the mix was excellent. I enjoyed the listen - didn't seem long to me. 1
