I believe if you ALT Click on a note it becomes muted.

Highlight all the notes you want muted, then ALT+Click one of them ?

You are correct. documentation says it does, but that splits notes (using Smart tool)

Try the mute tool.

According to the using the Smart Tool on PRV notes section in http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Tools.04.html SHIFT+Right-Click in note hot spot "C" mutes selected notes

i just found that when you are done, hiting ctrl-z, un-mute the notes !

If you want some notes muted in PRV don't you think that is it better and faster to delete all of them?

not at this time it's a piano-track 'extracted' from a acoustic guitar with melodyne..so there is alot of notes

so that i want to mute before delete them..
