Artplex Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 I don't know what's going on, but everybody seems to be having a bigger sale this time. Those prices are too low!
Soundwise Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 It's not that I need another virtual piano, but there's always a chance to miss a sale on some outstanding gems. Any recommendations on Sampletekk?
Fleer Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 There are some fine ones, like Tubed Keys, but most of these libraries are Mk1, so you’d better check their Mk2 version too.
Vernon Barnes Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 (edited) Black Grand is very good. There are no turkeys in this lot, I have them all. The Solina and Prophet are probably the weakest (in terms of features, not sound) but at these prices they worth grabbing. Edited January 9, 2020 by Vernon Barnes
synthmeister Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 The guys at PianoWorld noted that the Black and White pianos were originally recorded c.2005, although the Black was reworked c.2012

Any recommendations on Sampletekk? The white grand and black grand are nice instruments. Tubed Keys is fun. @synthmeisterI get the sense that the folks at PW just don't like Sampletekk much. Sure, these are old libraries, but they're samples of decades (sometimes century)-old instruments, so I don't really get their point. I guess if you're a classically trained pianist who's used to perfectly-maintained instruments, modern scripting can make a big difference. But, for most piano players, these old libraries should hold up nicely. The Old Lady is still one of my all time favourites, and I have no shortage of much newer options! 1 1

synthmeister Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 There are recent demos on youtube of the Sampletekk pianos. Just note there are several versions of these pianos available with similar names, which is a bit confusing. But at $7 per piano, there is not much downside.
SmokeyJ628 Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 White Grand has a wonderful sound (and I own a lot of pianos, virtual and real).

kitekrazy Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Only missing one one of the Black Grand perspectives. Do I go with it for $13.90 or the TBO or 7C for $9.90?
John Bohlen Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 It looks like they have a lot of upgrades for these instruments. Not sure why they still sell the old ones when they have updated ones. I don't buy from vendors that play these upgrade games. And they sure need a website update.
Fleer Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Some of these oldies can be bought for the Logic Pro sampler so you don’t need full Kontakt.

TBO and 7C are two sides of the same piano. You can always get TVBO later, as it includes TBO Mk2 and 7CMk2. Better complete your Black Grand. 1

paulo Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Something about that website just screams .......walk away.
Canopus Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 (edited) As far as I can see, the demo links at SampleTekk doesn’t work in Firefox, but they do work in Chrome (at least for me). The problem seems to be that SampleTekk doesn’t expose the SoundCloud player directly, but is wrapping the links into an internal player which doesn’t work with Firefox. The easy solution is of course to open the SampleTekk site in Chrome instead. Edit: All of a sudden the never-ending "Waiting..." (or was it "Loading..."?) messages next to the demo tracks in Firefox have disappeared and the player links have started to work there as well. Whether it was a temporary thing or maybe that some fix now has been done at the site, but the SoundCloud player problem now seems to have disappeared. Edited January 10, 2020 by Canopus 1
