They, and Steinberg, log someone in via default browser. Someone would have log in trouble if: the software (installer) couldn't invoke the browser to open their login URL, or, -- happened to me for Steinberg (and I can't recall how did I fix it) -- the browser (after log someone in) couldn't pass the baton back to the calling software.

I believed I've done that, but guess what I found was on: I must have missed that. Or could it be that it wasn't there before? Anyway, thanks. Now the aforementioned Affinity setting stays off even after I opened its firewall block. I don't think I've ever encountered such convoluted settings (between an online account & an installed software). This is worrying.

In my system, as long as Affinity has internet connection, this option can't be turned off, or rather, I can turn it off, but it will be on again the next time I open Settings. Only after I blocked it with my firewall, then it's off & stays off. So, this option is actually an internet connection detection 😀

How useful is this software in general?

"While you can use the code in Pulse Downloader, this is not a requirement." Well, in my case, it took roughly 2 days until Pulse accepted the NA code. After "ordering" it (Jul 13, 23:26 UTC+07) I tried for around 24 hours & Pulse always says: Key xxx doesn't exist [BE]. Tried to google that & couldn't find anything. I finally gave up & thought that the only way to install was through NA. Nonetheless, before I got to do that, I noticed this thread (yes, I knew about it before the King LOL) & decided to give Pulse another try. Surprise! The code went through.

How long does this kind of deals usually last?

I think I'd also prefer INI way. It's easier to change/reset those "undocumented features" of each program. Also, it's safer because one's INI wouldn't affect other softwares.

This is a very old but neat trick that should be re-mention from time to time. For those who really-really hate to type, there are some free Windows apps with GUI. https://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/linkshellextension.html https://github.com/DaxDupont/dirlinker-revived I do prefer to use this "manual" method rather than taking some more space in my storage.

In me, Firefox was spinning for quite some time, then settled down looking like this: Based on others responses, I knew it shouldn't look like that. So I tried to right-click & open image in new tab. It then produced this: So I figured this must be those geolocation thingies (or my ISP/country doing its fine work). So I used TOR and could see the image. VPN also worked.

I went to https://www.cakewalk.com/ & looked at the bottom of the page. There are 4 social-medias listed & I checked each one out. Only Facebook has recent (less than a month old) activities (comments), and out of the 33 comments there, only a few mentioned dissatisfaction. Where is this list?

To be used just as what @cclarry posted?

There is. It's 550 vs 999 (before further discounts).
