  2. not a fan of waves and needing to do the WUP dance to get plugins working with later versions of macos - but it was worth the $14 to get flowmotion and element 2.0 up and running on m1+big sur. Pretty much everything else is a virtual paperweight now for me.
  3. the ACB synths use circuit modelling for the emulation, so there's no compromise - but each voice is heavy on CPU Zenology uses zencore synth engine parameters to do the analog model emulations. zencore itself is like the xv-5080 synth engine with VA added to it, the analog models are a layer that sits on top of zencore and pull its strings using range limiting, scaling and setting up macros eg kicking in an eq boost when juno 106 hp filter is set to step 0 it uses the 2 high quality "VCF" roland filters in zencore, one for jupiter 8 and the other one is tweaked to cover sh-101, juno 106 and jx-8p duties. the same va/calculated oscillators are used for all the analog models, and it does use some PCM's too for jup 8 sin/tri, jx-8p pulse and sh-101 2oct sub It's pretty impressive what they've done, but it has limitations from using that zencore engine as its base, eg there's no noise LFO for the sh-101 as there is no noise LFO in zencore.
  4. It's a funny thing - I could swear I remember Tomorrow's World spreading jam on a cd to show its durability - seems I'm not alone is misremembering that: https://www.orchardoo.com/TWCompactDisc.htm
  5. If you can get past the interface and headline waveform splitting concept, there's a decent CPU-friendly VA synth lurking inside waverazor. 3 oscillators + 3 filters with a bunch filter models and deep routing options, crazy amount of parameters for use with the extensive modulation system etc, LFOs that go to 2.5kHz etc, lots of FX inc decent saturators. It's one of my favourite sounding VAs.
  6. yeah, they have a very interesting definition of "any" over there in plugin-alliance towers.
  7. Sorry to hear that Brian - I wasn't going to buy GP4 given the upgrade price from GP3 wasn't that attractive, but this was a no-brainer.
  8. very unusual that this DOES include gig performer 4 unlocked - they normally exclude that one from these sales.
  9. massive collections of reaktor blocks, including polyphonic blocks and complete synths: "SUMMER SALE! All packs and bundles 30% off!" - not sure when this started or when it ends, but I filled by boots on this one earlier and couldn't be happier: https://www.toyboxaudio.com/
  10. New midi auto-composer plugin - on offer at $29.70 vs $99 normal (and at pluginboutique.com if you have some cash/tokens there) https://www.waproduction.com/plugins/view/instacomposer genuinely impressed with this, especially at this price point
  11. I have scaler2 and captain chords, but I prefer using the harvest plugins forager for finding interesting chord progressions - makes me feel more involved in the process than the other two I mentioned. I combine that with secondary plugins like phrasebox or chord potion to do interesting things with the chords. https://harvestplugin.com/forager/ I did try chordjam and it has some interesting things going for it for sure - didn't quite tip me for buying yet, but I dare say it will end up in my plugins folder at some point.
  12. I wasn't a fan of the arturia "sound" in the early days, but the last few rounds have really improved things to my ear.
  13. Really impressed with harvest. Being able to lock some notes on the harvest grid and use DAW automation to trigger the randomization of non-locked notes from a user selected pool of notes with weighted probability, along with rests with their own probability setting (which can be baked into the pattern), is very sweet.
  14. The interface is horrible laggy for me (mac) - I might still buy it though as it's quite an interesting synth to experiment with
  15. IL's "minihost modular" is handy - but it only covers one small part of what GP does.
  16. An End-Of-Line GP3 has less value (as resources won't be expended on improving it) - but of course buyers didn't know they were buying EOL. It's pretty normal for very recent buyers to get free/cheap upgrades, as distinct from just existing users - and I don't ever recall seeing differential upgrade pricing based on where it was purchased from. I can see why PA and Deskew played it this way, it puts money in the coffers from people who may never have bought GP at all and some of them may get hooked enough to pay the cost to upgrade to GP4 (even though that cost is far more than they paid PA for GP3) - but it feels a bit "bait and switch".
  17. I love that in phase plant we can insert/modulate their effects plug-ins (in snap-in form) at the per-voice/poly level.
  18. It took me ages to unlock a bunch of CM mags yesterday - click a link, get on with something else for a good few minutes, come back and 50/50 it might have loaded the page. Got there in the end though.
  19. Bought one in 2012 to help with back issues from long stints in front of the computer. Worked like a charm, very comfortable and it's still pretty much like new even after 15,000+ hours use. Has been a rock solid investment for me, even after paying pretty much twice the ask of this offer.
  20. lol yeah - and their upgrade pricing is pretty steep too - it's £85/$119 for me to upgrade from icarus 1. that's why I didn't do it when it first came out and then I promptly forgot it even existed!
  21. Looks really interesting. I love the wavetable editor in the original icarus - I use that to make wavetables for my other wavetable synths. I prefer the results with the re-synthesis in that vs serum. Just checked my email and seems it launched back in October 2020 so I guess this is a best service new addition rather than a new product.
  22. Title says it all - free with june 2021 mag.
  23. Gig performer is brilliant for me. It has a really nice scripting language that includes sysex handling - I use that to make control panels for my roland synths. The only real downside is that unlike plogue bidule, it doesn't pass through midi clock on the midi routings - but it makes up for that with the ease of filtering/mapping etc. Absolute bargain at $50 imo - even better if you can get your hands on a voucher!
