I can't see any benefits in using obsolete 1930's vacuum tube technology either.

Or the thousands-year-old technology of making sounds by blowing through a cylinder or rubbing tensioned strings together or plucking them.

    Oh, wait.....

Hmm... I was talking about signal quality while processing recorded performance and you are talking about age of technology and making sounds. o.O

I’d give my X-pedals for these Tapes anytime.

I thought X-Gear series is meant to be Amplitube in a box. Having a software version of a hardware version of the original software version is kind of gimmicky to me. No offense intended.

As for tape machine emulators, I genuinely tried to find a place for them in my workflow, but eventually had to give up. Can't see any benefit of mimicking tape style signal degradation.

Opticom is great , did ya tried the orange amp , i don't use AT bass amp that much either but the Trace Elliote , the orange and the Fender are exellent

Sure! I have IK Orange collection and do think amp emulations there are great, although cabs are not so much.  I also tried Orange emulation by bx and, unfortunately, not impressed with it. I think AT, RV4 and Black Rooster have excellent Orange amp-sims, arguably, the best up-to-date.

As for IK Fender and Trace-Elliot, they still feel more like pedals than real amps, lacking that sheer dynamic range, creamy compression and juicy roar. Same is true for all other Fender amp-sims, which doesn't mean that you can't get great clean tones out of any of them.

  4. Just tried the SuperCabinet and bundled libraries. Carving a nice combination out of user IRs is tedious and tiresome. No module preset/setting management is a huge disappointment. Libraries are kind of meh, not worth the money.

Anybody else use it, think its ok?

STRIKE is another I dont bother with.

I love Air instruments. Structure has some very nice sounds, particularly, orchestral, pop brass and electric guitar, and Strike is perfect for quick and dirty sketches and drafts. As for synths, Hybrid and Loom are my go-to ones.

For a quick, easy, master it's pretty nice...very much ala Lurssen,
but it don't beat Ozone 9 Advanced....that's where the party is at!
I haven't used anything that compares (obviously some "Mastering Chains" of
individual effects can produce the same, or better, results - but I'm speaking
    of "all-inclusive" processors)

O9A, in turn, doesn't beat some expensive outboard gear, which don't beat a professional mastering facility run by an outstanding mastering engineer.  When it comes to perfection, sky is the limit.

This plugin adds a unique 3D quality to OK sounding mixes. Great tool for instant mix polishing.

Train II has way too much gain on tap.

It depends on the signal level you feed it with. I keep my input level below -12dB. If that still is too hot, by all means bring it down.

ODS I think is great for clean sounds (though on some settings some artifical fizz can get really annoying).  I've never been a big fan of ODS "gain" including real Dumbles I've played (not just Fuchs knock offs).  That said, I think the ODS pluign is actually surprisingly close to that tone and eq controls.   I just don't love that part of the sound, but as emulations go...well I think it stacks up quite well as long as you can tame the fizz depending on the settings you use.

I find that plugin version of the Fuchs version of Dumble is closer to Vox than Dumble. TH-U has a decent ODS module and some nice Rig profiles as well, which I like a little more, than PA's ODS.

Overall tone and response of them were "next level" from what I'd experienced in the plugin realm.

    Agreed!

Be interested in your verdict on Train II - it's one of my favourites.

It's a masterpiece! One of the best amp-sim plugins ever built.

It was rather difficult to pick the second plugin to go with Train II. I tried  Rockergain100 and Overdrive Supreme but wasn't impressed. Also Matcha, although decent, has a very limited functionality, i.e., no portamento, impossible to change pickups, etc.

    Any eq you like.

How do you know you like it? And why? Right! You must've had some experience using it and got at least a general idea how this EQ is different from others.

Just play until you get a sound you like.

It can easily take weeks or months. No one's willing to spend this much time on each track.

That's why we all need tutorials and howtos on basic to advanced sound processing.

Can recall who told me this was a superb flanger , Ol Pal , Larry or Bapu , but i went for the ada flanger , what a beauty !

What do you use it for, Zo? To my ears it sounds like a poorly designed or even a damaged circuit.

    Thanks for the info.
AI?  (it's early here maybe my coffee hasn't kicked yet)

After playing around with the E765RT I concluded that for around $9 (with the discount coupon) it was a no-brainer purchase and picked it up.
I listened to your audio clip and I like the guitar tones that your getting.

Three tones: Clean, Crunch and Lead in one preset. Use A, B and C buttons to switch settings.

It's not bad but it's not hitting that wow threshold for me.
What's (if you don't mind me asking) is your signal chain setup?

Normally I record clean signal for further reamping, so in this case my chain is: Guitar->Tube DI-box->AI->DAW.

Here's a recent example I quickly put together while demoing S1V (random noodling over some weird chords, so bear with my playing):

Let me know if you want my preset for E765RT.
