Noisebud has announced the release of Square2, an "EQ" plugin that thickens and adds perceived loudness without changing the peaks. Here's what they say: Noisebud has taken another approach when creating the "equalizer" Square2. Normally you'd have to use a couple of plugins in a chain to achieve what Square2 does automatically. In short, Square2 is an equalizer that will try to keep the peak values as close to the incoming audio. Excessive peaks will be turned into saturation. But, don't mistake this for an EQ, Square2 is more of a thickener and coloring box than what the graphic interface implies, it will quickly distort. Noisebud recommends using a clean chain in front of Square2 and then adding all of the desired saturation using Square2 alone. Noisebud claims that the approach will help you make faster decisions since you don't need to switch between several plugins for achieving controlled and pleasing saturation.
