Sorry...but I'm not paying $99 for "limited functionality" or $149 for Full functionality, and then LOSE my "Max" designation when it comes time for some offer or upgrade, especially when I already own EVERYTHING except "Satch"! To quote GHWB... "not gonna do it...wouldn't be prudent" $99 (or even $149) to upgrade from AT4 Max to AT5 Max would be reasonable....$300 is INSANE, I don't care WHAT is included! IK is continuing to be a "poor" investment on just about EVERY front! Great plugins, with a very poor business model ala "Waves". It's REALLY sad! Charging you at EVERY step, everywhere, is just not good business IMO. You may feel it's worth it...I don't! -
We couldn't find any decent Whoosh and Swoosh sound effects for the transitions in our videos... so we created some ourselves. They really do help improve your videos and work great on any video or audio project, especially if you're using graphical transitions. Best of all, we thought we'd let you have them FREE get yours FREE HERE.

https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/topic/21049-202010-early-access-2/ Note: This is the second iteration of the 2020.10 Early Access. Edit: Just found an issue that is a show stopper. Adding CC events in PRV crashes the program. Might want to hold off installing this particular early release.
-
Again, nothing to do with Cakewalk. The default location for a Cakewalk/Sonar installation IS, as you said: "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\VstPlugins" But when you would install VST's from 3rd party developers, the VST installer would default to C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins, and you would have to TELL the installer that you wanted to use the "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\VstPlugins" path instead.
-
It has nothing to do with Sonar/Cakewalk...software developers wrote their installers to default to C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins. Most allowed you to alter that path, but many did not (originally), and that is why many still default to, and create, the path: C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins. This is because Steinberg were the authors of the VST Format

You misunderstand....by DEFAULT, the location recommended BY THE SOFTWARE INSTALLER would be C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins, BUT you could alter that location if the installer allowed you to. Some DID NOT allow you to, and you would have to move them to whatever your VST Folder was.
-
Correct. It was the default VST directory for years. I install all my VST2's to a different drive, as, like antler said, you can put them anywhere and just point to them in the DAW...
